Fire in the Lee Valley area
Update: 0700 hours 8 February 2024.
The team at Nelson Marlborough - Fire and Emergency are currently responding to a fire in the Lee Valley area.
There are three separate areas of fire, spreading uphill into a pine plantation.
Helicopters are supporting ground crews.
People in the area are urgently asked to avoid non-essential travel, particularly on Paton Rd, as traffic congestion is delaying some fire trucks from reaching the fire.
Evacuations have occurred.
A Civil Defence Centre at the Wanderers Community Sports Clubrooms on Lord Rutherford Road. If people have been evacuated and need assistance, then the team will be there to help.
